Neil Gesundheit
George DeForest Barnett Founders Professor of Medicine and Professor (Teaching) of Medicine (Endocrinology)
Clinical Focus
Endocrinology, Thyroid disorders, Endocrinology / Diabetes, Diabetes and Metabolism
Research Interests
Our medical education research group is developing and validating the best educational practices to train competent, compassionate, and ethical physicians and physician-scientists. We are studying the use of standardized patients and other modalities to improve clinical skill training and reasoning. We are interested in applying the rigor of clinical investigation to education research.
My areas of clinical interest in endocrinology include disorders of the pituitary, thyroid, and gonad.

Primary Immunodeficiency, Pediatrics
Research Interests
My laboratory is focused on defining cellular and molecular mechanisms that limit T cell responses to vaccines and pathogens during normal early postnatal development and in cases of inherited genetic immunodeficiencies. We are also determinomg how these limitations in immunity can be overcome by using novel approaches for vaccine adjuvants for influenza vaccine and by using catalytically inactive Cas proteins for inducing endogenous gene expression.

Ann Mullally
Professor of Medicine (Hematology)
Research Interests
Dr. Ann Mullally's aboratory studies the genetics, biology and therapy of myeloid blood cancers, with a focus on myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN). Using primary human samples, mouse models, genomics, single-cell sequencing and CRISPR, as well as cellular and molecular biology, the lab has investigated the key genetic events underlying MPN pathogenesis. Dr. Mullally’s lab elucidated the mechanism by which mutant calreticulin (CALR) is oncogenic and causes MPN.
