Bio I am a results-oriented, problem-solving scientist with the strength to get people motivated and enthusiastic about their work. I thrive in a collaborative team-driven environment where analytical thinking, decision-making and planning are a main prerequisite.
I am biologist with the focus on the functional comparison of ion channels in their native environment of different species with their biophysical properties in an outside world, measuring their ligand or drug sensitivity using patch clamp and two-electrode voltage-clamp recordings.
Since my PhD, I have worked in a highly disciplinary field, which trained me to target biological questions in a quantitative manner, and also challenged me to learn Matlab and Python for automated data analysis.

Current Research and Scholarly Interests We are interested in the structure, dynamics and function of eukaryotic transport proteins mediating ions and major nutrients crossing the membrane, the kinetics and regulation of transport processes, the catalytic mechanism of membrane embedded enzymes and the development of small molecule modulators based on the structure and function of membrane proteins.
