Postdoctoral Medical Fellow, Immunology and Rheumatology
Bio Dr. Kolstad is a Clinical Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Medicine (Immunology and Rheumatology Division). Dr. Kolstad is interested in better understanding immune dysregulation and how it relates to clinical disease. Dr. Kolstad is currently studying vascular complications of systemic sclerosis. She is interested in identifying biomarkers in patients with systemic sclerosis that can predict progression to pulmonary arterial hypertension, a major cause of death in this patient population. She is also interested in better understanding and improving women’s health in the area of rheumatology. Dr. Kolstad is studying the complex relationship between reproductive outcomes and systemic sclerosis. More specifically, she aims to understand the role of vasculopathy in the clinical outcomes of pregnancy in women with systemic sclerosis. Dr. Kolstad's mentor is Dr. Lorinda Chung, an Associate Professor of Medicine (Immunology and Rheumatology) and Dermatology at Stanford University School of Medicine and has extensive experience in clinical, epidemiologic, and translational research in all aspects of systemic sclerosis.
