Bio

Dr. Ashley Griffin is a medical informatics postdoctoral research fellow at the Center for Primary Care and Outcomes Research at Stanford and the VA Palo Alto Health Care System Center for Innovation to Implementation. Her research focuses on the use of digital health technologies and patient-generated health data to support patients with multimorbidities. Dr. Griffin's research develops methods and tools that can empower patients to take an active role in their health and inform decision-making for the care team.

1) The cost-effectiveness of new cardiovascular technologies.
Example: tests to screen asymptomatic patients for left ventricular systolic dysfunction.

2) Interventions to improve the quality of care of patients with heart disease. Examples: include clinical reminders and home monitoring.

3) Outcomes research using existing clinical and administrative datasets.

4) Use of echocardiography to predict prognosis (e.g. diastolic dysfunction).

Research Interests
Modern science requires that experimental data—and descriptions of the methods used to generate and analyze the data—are available online. Our laboratory studies methods for creating comprehensive, machine-actionable descriptions both of data and of experiments that can be processed by other scientists and by computers. We are also working to "clean up" legacy data and metadata to improve adherence to standards and to facilitate open science broadly.
