Dr. Chao is passionate about disease prevention as she believes it is the ultimate way to impact the health of a population. Surgeons often see the devastating, end-results of the failure of prevention. With this perspective, Dr. Chao believes that it is crucial for surgeons to be active in prevention research. Dr. Chao currently serves as Trauma Medical Director of Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and focuses much of her research on injury prevention.
