Bio
Dr. Christiane Haeffele is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at Stanford University School of Medicine and a nationally recognized expert in cardiovascular imaging, structural heart disease, and adult congenital heart disease.
She serves as Medical Director of the Echocardiography Laboratory at Stanford Health Care, Director of Structural Echocardiography, and Program Director of the Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging Fellowship. In these roles, she oversees one of the nation's leading echocardiography programs, providing advanced imaging for complex valvular, congenital, and structural heart interventions while training the next generation of cardiovascular imagers.
Dr. Haeffele's clinical practice focuses on multimodality imaging, structural heart disease, and adult congenital heart disease. She has extensive expertise in transcatheter valve therapies, including mitral, tricuspid, and aortic interventions, and serves as a key imaging specialist within Stanford's multidisciplinary structural heart program.
Her research interests center on advancing cardiovascular imaging to improve patient outcomes, with particular emphasis on structural heart disease, congenital heart disease, imaging-guided interventions, and the integration of emerging technologies and artificial intelligence into clinical practice. She has contributed to numerous national clinical trials and multicenter studies evaluating novel transcatheter therapies and imaging strategies.
A dedicated educator and mentor, Dr. Haeffele has received multiple teaching awards for her commitment to medical education and faculty development. She is actively involved in national cardiovascular societies and frequently lectures on echocardiography, structural heart disease, and congenital heart disease at regional, national, and international meetings.
Dr. Haeffele earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley, her medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine, and a Master of Public Health from Harvard School of Public Health. She completed her residency training in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics through the Harvard-Brigham and Women's Hospital/Boston Children's Hospital combined program, followed by fellowships in Adult Cardiovascular Medicine and Adult Congenital Heart Disease at Stanford University.
