Inviting Patient Participants

For managers of clinics or practitioner groups who want to implement PEP

  • PCPs need to notify the clinic manager which patients might benefit. We have found that it works best to have clinic leadership support PEP initially which can be done by the manager or a designated clinic support staff “champion.”
    • The clinic support staff “champion” can then message potential participants using the patient invitation (included in smartphrase index).
  • If patients want to participate in PEP, the PCP needs to identify three successive 30-minute appointment slots ideally once per week.
  • If there are no future appointment slots available, clinic leadership needs to help the PCP add extra virtual appointment slots at convenient times into their schedule.
    • This can be done in exchange for future equivalent time off or for payment.
  • The clinic support staff “champion” can then schedule each participating patient for their series of three weekly virtual appointments with their PCP.
