Apply for STaRS Internship Program

 Applications for STaRS 2026 are now closed.

STaRS 2026 will run from June 15, 2026 - August 7, 2025

Applicants must be 16 years old by June 23rd, 2025. No exceptions to this rule are allowed.

Applicants can be from anywhere in the US and its associated territories. Please note, however, the STaRS program does not have on-campus housing. Applicants will be responsible for arranging their own housing and transportation to the University laboratory.

Applicants can be high school or community college students.

Application must be completed in its entirety, including submission of a letter of recommendation. Applications without a letter of recommendation will not be considered.

We currently do not accept international applicants.

Continuity and teamwork are essential to the success of the STaRS program. Interns are therefore expected to participate in the full 8-week program.

The program runs Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Because the experience is designed as a continuous learning and mentorship opportunity, participants must be able to attend for the entire duration.

If you anticipate needing to be absent for a week or more during the program, we encourage you to apply in a future year.
