  • Bunmi Fariyike, BS

    Bunmi Fariyike, BS

    Medical Student

Bunmi is a 4th year medical student and Knight-Hennessy Scholar at Stanford University School of Medicine. He plans to pursue a career in neurosurgery. He received his bachelor’s degree from Columbia University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a major in biomedical engineering and minor in Hispanic studies. While there, he spent 4 years conducting research under the mentorship of Virginia Cornish, using genetic engineering techniques to develop yeast-based biosensors for living biomaterials. Currently, Bunmi is a co-author of BRAIN MATTERS: The American Society of Black Neurosurgeons’ Global Neurosurgery Committee Newsletter. He is also a member of the Global Champions Program of World Neurosurgery, a student-led initiative that promotes equity in neurosurgical research by providing free English language editing to non-Anglophone authors. A recipient of the MedScholars Fellowship at Stanford, Bunmi will dedicate his 4th year to full-time research investigating the mechanisms of somatic mosaicism in drug-refractory pediatric epilepsy.

  • Yingmei Li, PhD

    Yingmei Li, PhD

    Basic Life Research Scientist

Yingmei is a staff scientist in the lab with a wealth of expertise in structural biology, molecular biology, and genomics. She earned her PhD in Chemistry from Purdue University, where she spent five years researching DNA/RNA nanotechnology and its biomedical applications. Following this, she completed a four-year postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University’s School of Medicine, where her research focused on genomic changes in primary brain tumors and brain metastases. She developed a particular interest in the potential of cerebrospinal fluid liquid biopsies for alternative diagnostic and monitoring approaches. Currently, her work is dedicated to exploring the multi-omics features underlying epilepsy in children

  • Nishanth Narayan, BS

    Nishanth Narayan, BS

    Life Science Research Professional

Nishanth is an LSRP in the lab and graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder where he majored in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental biology. Nishanth is experience working in a variety of molecular biology lab settings and plans to apply to PhD programs in the future.

  • Jacky Zhao

    Jacky Zhao

    Undergraduate Researcher

Jacky Zhao is a first-year undergraduate student at Stanford University majoring in Bioengineering and minoring in Economics. His role in the PRIME Lab is Research Assistant. He is deeply passionate about neuroscience, biotechnology, and healthcare and aspires to discover breakthroughs and make impactful innovations in the changing healthcare industry.

Our Team

We are looking to add dynamic members in a team interested in further our understanding of the genetic underpinnings of epilepsy.
