Dear Friends and Colleagues, I have been at Stanford for 6 years now, and our program continues to grow and improve. The credit for this goes to the talented and dedicated people on our team, and the leaders from the Stanford University School of Medicine and Stanford Medicine Children’s Health who support our work. I am grateful to them all, and am proud of our work and progress toward our goals. 2022 was a terrific year for our team, and I am proud to share some highlights with you:

• Record numbers of surgical cases, OR minutes and outpatient visits (>37,000)
• Increased volumes in our outpatient clinic sites off campus, supporting our decentralized growth strategy
• Hiring Arvind Balaji, MD to strengthen our terrific pediatric sports medicine team (Drs. Boyd,Kraus,Grieb) and grow our program in the East Bay
• Continued excellence in both patient satisfaction scores, clinic throughput and access metrics
• Representation of our team on the podium at major national and international orthopaedic meetings – POSNA, SRS, AAOS, AOA, AOSSM, PRISM, EPOS and others
• Continued success of our research program led by Dr Shea with 50 peer reviewed publications in 2022
• Special awards from POSNA to Dr. Shea and from our residency program to Dr. Imrie
• Recognition of our program by USNWR with a #18 ranking

Once again, we are honored to have the opportunity every day to help children who have musculoskeletal problems, and we look forward to working with leaders in the School of Medicine and Stanford Medicine Children’s Health on furthering our academic mission in 2023. This year we did our best, and next year we will do better. A healthy, happy New Year to all!
