Fellow Resources & Curriculum

Fellows' College

Fellows' College is a common educational experience for all fellows that includes a three-year longitudinal curriculum targeting commonalities in training future physicians, educators, and leaders. The curriculum maps to the AGCME and ABP core fellowship requirements including content on leadership, teaching, mentoring, professionalism, career skills, and scholarship.

Fellows get to meet members of their cohort, network, and build skills that will make them successful while at Stanford and into their future careers.

Fellows' Scholarship Round Robin

The Scholarship Round Robin is a speed mentoring event for fellows to highlight the variety of scholarship areas at Stanford. The purpose of the Scholarship Round Robin is to introduce fellows to the diverse array of scholarship and the faculty who are conducting research in these areas. Fellows have an opportunity to join up to three scholarship area breakout sessions during the event.

Fellows' Scholarship Academy

The Scholarship Academy is a one-week course developed to introduce fellows to all areas of scholarship, with a focus on providing enough information for fellows to begin designing their scholarly project in preparation for working on a grant. The content is mapped to the ACGME and ABP core fellowship requirements. Topics include: project development, design, and process; grant writing principles; and an overview of biostatistics.

Fellows' Grant Writing Club

The Grant Writing Club is an interactive and dynamic grant writing workshop designed for all fellows in the Department of Pediatrics.

It is designed to teach basic fundamentals of grant writing, including learning about all components of a grant submission, with the club culminating in participants having a complete MCHRI grant ready for submission.

Fellows' Scholarship Club

The Scholarship Club is an interactive and dynamic research seminar designed for all fellows in the Department of Pediatrics.  We will discuss a variety of topics including, but not limited to, study design, statistics, survey development, statistical software, ethics in research, bioinformatics, research-related resources and networking, works in progress, and so on.

The content maps to the ACGME and ABP core fellowship requirements and is appropriate for all fellows regardless of scholarship focus.

Fellow Scholarship Toolkit

A newly created resource to support your fellows’ scholarly activities at Stanford – the Pediatrics Fellow Scholarship Toolkit. This website includes resources that will be helpful to fellows as they begin thinking about their scholarly projects, selecting an area of interest, identifying a mentor, investigating grant opportunities, and understanding the American Board of Pediatrics requirements. In addition, the resources should provide a timeline to help in planning key scholarship activities for fellows during and after fellowship. The intention of the toolkit is to supplement the work within the division and help support leadership, faculty mentors, as well as fellows.

Fellows' Well-Being Program

The Fellows' Well-being Program (FWP) combines specific well-being curricula, personal skill building, and institutional strategies to reduce burnout in fellow physicians.

The program targets several key drivers for physician burnout and includes a novel curriculum focused on fatigue mitigation, self-care, resiliency, and stress mitigation. This curriculum is paired with several programs focused on changing the culture of well-being, including a Reflective Conversation series  led by the Palliative Care team to target grief and stress , as well as sessions led by faculty members to discuss finding meaning in medicine.
