Primary Care Gender Fellowship

 The Primary Care Gender Fellowship (non-ACGME;12 month) invites those who have completed either pediatrics/medicine-pediatrics residency training to apply.

The fellow’s main clinical experience will be in the Gender Clinic where they will learn how to evaluate young people of all ages and stages of their gender journey in seeking medical and surgical gender affirming care.  

In addition, the fellow will rotate through various clinics including: Teen, Eating Disorder, Adolescent Gynecology, Urology, Mood Disorder, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and Plastics Surgery clinics to be able to provide comprehensive care.

• The fellow will also observe psychotherapy and the most common procedures in Gender Medicine. 
• Modules in advocacy, DEI, health disparities, community engagement and medical education will also be part of the curricula.
• Starting date July 2025 

The Stanford Pediatric and Adolescent Gender Clinic, established in 2016 is a multidisciplinary clinic which encompasses more than 15 ped subs who work together providing medical and surgical gender affirming care to youth. 

Nestled near California’s agricultural belt and within the Bay Area, we are located in one of the most diverse ethnic and cultural regions of the country. Furthermore, we are safety-net providers within the region serving uninsured and underinsured families. The services and expertise at Stanford Medicine Children’s Health (SMCH) attract patients from across the country and around the world, expanding the multicultural experiences for trainees. Our diverse LGBTQ + patient population at SMCH Includes multiple cultures and ethnicities such as Hispanic, Asian, Caucasian, Pacific Islander, and African American from the local Bay area to around the world.  

The Gender fellow will closely interact, in a friendly and supportive environment, with residents, fellows and faculty from all subspecialties.  Along with the program director, the division faculty from pediatric endocrinology and adolescent medicine will primarily supervise the in the care of patients, education, scholarly activity, and career development. The fellow will be encouraged to participate and take leadership roles in the many inclusive, social, and educational opportunities available through the Divisions, Department of Pediatrics, and the Office of Pediatric Education just to name a few!
