Rotation Guide & Goals
The Pediatric Infectious Diseases elective will focus on teaching residents to diagnose and manage children with simple and complex infections in both immunocompetent and immunocompromised hosts. Residents rotating through the Peds ID service will receive individualized schedules which will include the broad range of Peds ID activities such as Infection Prevention and Control, Antibiotic Stewardship, Transplant ID, and quaternary and community ID cases. While teaching is focused on ID specifics, the learner will gain skills in critical thinking which is a hallmark of the practice of Peds ID as well as the skills related to a consulting service. The resident will be expected to serve as a full team member, and assume the responsibility for following their assigned patients (including pre-rounding, presenting on rounds, communicating with referring teams and physicians, and following through on lab and care plans), attending assigned didactics as well as Division patient case conferences.
