Considering a career in Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) in the community setting? This elective will expose you to broad-spectrum inpatient pediatrics in a community hospital setting in Pleasanton, CA (approximately 1hr northeast of Stanford). This elective is designed for you to be a co-attending; you will be granted significant autonomy in managing the service under the supervision of PHM community hospitalists. The majority of time will be spent on attending deliveries, providing level II NICU care and well infant care; though bread and butter pediatric inpatients and ED consults will also be a part of the elective. Overnight call is optional; there is no weekend duty. As this is an elective, there will be a variety of choices to help you tailor your experiences, including in teaching staff NRP/PALS, general clinical teaching to staff, becoming involved in ongoing quality improvement projects, etc. Reimbursement for gas mileage is available between your home and ValleyCare for the 2021-2022 year. A standard hospital call room is also available to you should you want to use it; it is not required.
