Rotation Guide & Goals
The Quality Improvement experience within the pediatric residency program at LPCHS is a longitudinal approach:
- PGY 1: Interns will get an introductory didactic about the basics of quality improvement during intern bootcamp or a scholarly concentration retreat. They will then spend the morning learning about medication administration using pharmacy and nursing shadowing experience.
- PGY 2: Residents will spend a Tuesday learning about the infrastructure of improvement at LPCHS by attending key huddles and meetings and interactive didactics by improvement leaders.
- PGY 3: Seniors will spend time on their Teaching Senior/QI block expanding their knowledge of quality improvement principles through interactive didactics, preparing a Morbidity and Morality Noon Conference, and meeting with safety leaders in the institution.
Kathleen Boyd should send an email a few days prior to each of these experiences. Please refer to the call schedule and the Chiefs' special schedules to see your individual dates for these rotation components. You can contact Dr. Boyd at any time.
