Letter of Support Resources
Steps for requesting a letter of support in the Department of Pediatrics:
1. Download the relevant letter of support template from the OPRD Library using the link above under "Letter of Support Resources." Based on your research and scholarly endeavor, identify relevant Department of Pediatrics, MCHRI, Stanford, or other resources to highlight within the instutional letter of support.
- If your proposed research will utilize any of MCHRI's services, please contact MCHRI to schedule a letter of support consultation.
- If your proposed research includes a patient or a specimen now or in the future, please contact Alyson Falwell, MPH, Clinical Research Operations Manager, in the Clinical Research Support Office (CRSO) to discuss specific CRSO resources that are most relevant to your research and should be highlighted in both your letter and facilities document
- If your research involves community engagement, contact Dongmei Tan, MPH, Community Engaged Research Manager within MCHRI's Office of Community Engaged Research
- If using Innovation and Translational Support, contact Grant Wells
- If using PEDSNet, contact Jessica Whalen
- If using Clinical Research Coordinator Services, contact May Zepeda
- If using DRIVE and/or QSU, contact Mary Chen
2. Draft the letter using the appropriate template, while following all proposal instructions and requirements. Remember, this is an instutional letter of support not a letter of recommendation. After drafting the letter, download a copy of Dr. Leonard's letterhead (also found in the Letter of Support templates folder) and paste the letter on letterhead.
NOTE: Any resources highlighted in this letter should be elaborated upon within the Facilities and Other Resources document.
It is highly recommended to have a member of OPRD review and provide feedback on your draft letter before submitting. Please contact:
- Vinita Bharat for fellowships or career development awards
- Justin Crest for training grants or large program projects
- Crystal Botham for all other letter requests
3. Submit the letter to the Pediatrics Letter of Support Request Form. An automatic email will be sent to your Division Chief or other Division designee requesting approval as necessary.
4. We aim to return signed letters to you within 5 business days.
