Clinical & Research Internship Program at Stanford
June 22, 2026 through August 28, 2026
Program Description
The Clinical & Research Internship at Stanford Pediatrics (CRISP) Summer Program is a 10-week summer internship designed to introduce Stanford undergraduate students to the field of Pediatrics through immersive clinical exposure, mentored clinically-relevant research, and structured education. CRISP is intended to increase student interest in Pediatrics as a career path.
Program Features
Clinical Curriculum
Students will spend three mornings per week participating in structured program activities designed to expose students to the practice of Pediatric patient care based at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. Students will learn clinical skills, how to interact with patients and families, and be exposed to common disease processes in children through a variety of educational modalities, including clinical skills sessions, didactic teaching, and guided patient observation experiences led by the CRISP faculty team.
Research Projects
In the afternoons, students will work with their assigned faculty mentor and research teams on a clinically relevant research project. Mentors will provide project guidance, research mentorship, and support. By the end of the summer, students will prepare a poster summarizing their research projects and will present their posters to the Pediatrics research community at a poster symposium.
Educational Sessions
Students will participate in educational sessions once per week exploring Pediatrics as a career path and learning more about the variety of subspecialties and opportunities within the field. Students will also begin to prepare for medical school applications.
Near Peer Mentoring
Throughout the CRISP summer program, students will have opportunities for near peer mentoring with Stanford medical students and Pediatrics residents and fellows. CRISP students will build relationships with individuals who are on the medicine pathway and will learn from them about the field and steps they need to take to be successful.
