SPAARC (Stanford Pediatrics Advancing Anti-Racism Coalition)

SPAARC Mission Statement

The Stanford Pediatrics Advancing Anti-Racism Coalition (SPAARC) was established in June 2020 with the mission of promoting a culture of anti-racism in the Stanford Department of Pediatrics through immediate action, development of nimble systems, and longitudinal commitment to ongoing work, engagement and progress toward equity.

SPAARC 1.0 (June 2020 - June 2021)

SPAARC 1.0, established by co-chairs Lisa Chamberlain, MD, MPH and Lahia Yemane, MD, created 7 Action Teams led by faculty/staff dyads that worked on a variety of goals aimed at implementing SPAARC's mission:

  • Community Engagement, Research, and Mentorship

SPAARC 2.0 (January 2022 - June 2022)

SPAARC 2.0, which will run from January 2022 to June 2022, will continue to focus on anti-racism and action teams will be tasked with moving the work from last year's action teams forward to implementation and integration into department standard practice.
