Office of Child Health Equity

The Office of Child Health Equity (OCHE) is a new office in the Department of Pediatrics led by Dr. Lisa Chamberlain that promotes pediatric health equity via research, community engagement, and health policy. The goal of the office is to reduce childhood health disparities locally, statewide, and nationally as a response to growing inequities in children's healthcare. 

Policy Participation

Dr. Lisa Chamberlain (Associate Chair for Community Engagement and Advocacy) leads concerted efforts at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital (LCPH) and the School of Medicine. Dr. Chamberlain oversees an Advocacy Council comprised of residents, fellows, faculty, and staff similarly interested in engageing in advocacy efforts.

Community Engagement

The Pediatric Advocacy Program within the Office of Child Health Equity works with a variety of community partners to improve child health and wellbeing, and to eliminate health inequalities. Their team aims to respond to the most pressing child health issues and community-identified needs. Over several years, they have engaged in projects that have focused on food insecurity, early education, mental health, and other social determinants of health. Mid-Peninsula COVID-19 Collaboration

The Mid-Peninsula Community Coalition for Children and Families founded by Dr. Janine Bruce and led by OCHE came together in March 2020 at the start of COVID-19 to identify opportunities to share and disseminate critical information to families, leverage shared resources, engage in collaborative initiatives, and share local, state, and national updates.
