Legacy Grant: Program Overview

The Stanford Nurse AlumnaeLegacy Grants are intended to perpetuate the Stanford University School of Nursing's tradition of excellence in nursing practice, leadership, education, and research. The Stanford Nurse Alumnae Legacy Grant Funds are a living expression of an enduring commitment to academic nursing practice at Stanford.The aims of the project are:

  • Build on the foundation of academic nursing established by the Stanford University School of Nursing.
  • Enhance nurses' professional development through sponsoring research and practice improvement projects.
  • Promote nursing's active role and influence in improving health care delivery and advancing patient outcomes.

The Legacy Funds provides grant support up to $10,000 to advance innovative research and demonstration projects that improve health care outcomes, the patient experience, and health system efficiency.Examples of fundable projects include:

  • Development and evaluation of a patient education project
  • Measurement of a novel intervention’s impact on clinical care
  • Assessment of a practice change or new technique that improves patient outcomes
  • Implementation of guideline-based care for patients discharged on specialized therapies

Health Equity Grants: Program Overview

The Office of Research, Patient Care Services, Health Equity Research Division at Stanford Health Care is pleased to announce a new funding opportunity for innovative research projects that seek to improve equity in: (1) clinical research, (2) health care delivery, (3) clinical practice, and (3) workforce initiatives.  This opportunity provides funding to Stanford Health Care employees for projects designed to address health equity(HE) and diversity, equity, and inclusion(DEI).

Stanford Health Care is committed to achieving health equity and workforce diversity, equity, and inclusion. We strive for our patients, communities, and workforce to have equity in reaching their full health potential. Furthermore, our mission to address health care disparities is driven by our Stanford Health Care Strategic and Operational Plans, Nursing and Patient Care Services Strategy, and our Stanford Medicine Integrated Strategic Plan. 

Project Aims:

  • Increase diversity, equity, and inclusion among clinical research participants.
  • Identify potential risks for bias at any stage in the clinical research process from formulating research questions, proposal formulation, recruiting participants, and gaining patient consent through to administering clinical research interventions.
  •  Identify and develop programs and systems to eliminate bias and inequities in care delivery and clinical practice (based on race, gender/sex, ability, income, geographic region, or zip code, etc.).
  •  Develop a guide for creating and maintaining partnerships with community-based health care organizations that serve diverse and communities of color, drawing from health equity frameworks and networks.
  • Empower Stanford Health Care Employees and Groups, such as Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), Shared Leadership Council (SLC), Interprofessional teams, unit and department-based ERGs, and their members, among others, to be change agents on behalf of Stanford Health Care to: identify, propose, design, and implement innovative ideas to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion as an ongoing standard across Stanford Health Care

 

The Health Equity/DEI grants were available and funded for SHC projects in 2021-2022. Future SHC HE/DEI grants will be announced when available.
