Peer Support: Difficult clinical events happen to all clinicians at some point in their careeers and can lead to a variety of negative emotional consequences, including a sense of isolation, self-doubt, depression, rumination, and anxiety. Stanford doesn't want anyone to feel alone under these circumstances. Volunteer trained physicians, from a variety of departments and levels of experience, are available to lend a friendly ear and provide support during the difficult time. Conversations are legally protected and completely confidential, unless there is an issue of personal safety. Usually these conversations occur over the phone, but can be held in person. The Help Center: Professional and confidential counseling for individuals, couples and families, including bilingual counseling, to address both work and personal issues. Each faculty member is eligible to recieve 10 free sessions. They also offer workshops, discussion groups, consultation, departmental training and facilitation services for difficult conversations.

Mindfulness Rx

We are pleased to announce that part 1 and 2 of Mindfulness Rx was a wonderful success! If you are interested in taking part in a subsequent offering please let me know and I will see if we can arrange it. Mindfulness Rx has created this program based on neuroscience, compassion training, and the concepts of emotional intelligence and mindfulness that is specifically designed for healthcare providers in hospitals, clinics, and medical schools. They have already worked successfully with our Trauma ICU nurses, as well as Oncology and Lead Stanford Nurse Managers. The program helps providers develop a moment-to-moment awareness of their minds, bodies, emotions, speech, and actions, and addresses, resilience, self- compassion and engagement.

The venue for the full day retreat is gorgeous, overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Moss Beach. Your Wellness program would cover the full cost. Please check in with Eva Weinlander if you are ready to commit to this wonderful opportunity and we will pick the date that works best for the majority. There is a 20 person limit. This can be used as a BeWell Berry! Just fill out a Stress Class Berry Validation Form and Dr. Eva Weinlander will sign it.
