eConsult Program

Stanford’s eConsults Program facilitates provider-to-provider written electronic consultations, submitted by PCPs to sub-specialists. Sub-specialists respond to the clinical question, providing recommendations regarding diagnosis, treatment and/or management, within 3 business days. The eConsults Program aims to streamline the referral process, improve clinical efficiency, and ultimately, enhance patient outcomes by providing timely and informed care.

We aim to improve patient access to timely, high-quality specialty care, enhance care coordination and clinical efficiency, and support primary care physicians in delivering comprehensive and efficient patient-centered care within the primary care setting.

Our vision is to be a leading eConsult program, recognized for its innovation in transforming healthcare delivery, fostering seamless collaboration between primary care and specialists, and empowering patients to receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time, leading to improved health outcomes and a more sustainable healthcare system.
