Stanford Pathology faculty members Dr. Niaz Banaei, MD and Dr. Oscar Silva, MD, PhD have been honored with prestigious awards from the Stanford Center for Innovation in Global Health for their groundbreaking research.

Dr. Banaei, Professor of Pathology and Medicine (Infectous Diseases) has received the Stanford Center for Innovation in Global Health Award for "Development of an interferon gamma release assay for detection of cellular immune responses to Coccidioides" in association with Julie Parsonnet, MD, Professor, Stanford University School of Medicine, Departments of Medicine and of Epidemiology and Population Health.

Dr. Silva, Clinical Assistant Professor of Pathology (Hematopathology) has received the Stanford Center for Innovation in Global Health Award for "Low-cost transcriptional diagnosis of lymphomas in sub-Saharan Africa" in association with Philip Bulterys, MD, PhD, Clinical Fellow in Stanford Pathology.
