Brooke Howitt, MD

Assistant Professor of Pathology
Irene Adler Endowed Scholar

Dr. Brooke Howitt has been awarded the "Irene Adler Endowed Scholar". The Irene Adler Endowed Scholar fund was established in 2024 with a gift from Alan Adler to support an early career faculty member in the Stanford Cancer Institute. An appointment as a faculty scholar is the highest academic honor at Stanford University School of Medicine to recognize and celebrate early career accomplishments and also the promise of continued future achievements.

Paul Mischel, MD

Professor and Vice Chair for Research, Department of Pathology; Institute Scholar, ChEM-H, Stanford University; Fortinet Founders Endowed Chair

Dr. Paul Mischel has been awarded the "Fortinet Founders Endowed Chair". This endowed chair was established to support an investigator in ChEM-H who is an international leader in human biology.

Benjamin Pinsky, MD, PhD

Professor of Pathology and Medicine (Infectious Diseases); Director, Clinical Virology Laboratory

Dr. Benjamin Pinsky has been elected a member of the American Academy of Microbiology. The Academy, the honorific leadership group within the American Society for Microbiology, recognizes excellence, originality, service and leadership in the microbial sciences.

Paul Mischel, MD, of Stanford Pathology has been elected 2025 class of Fellows of the AACR Academy for profound contributions to the scientific understanding of the role of extrachromosomal DNA (ecDNA) in cancer development and therapeutic resistance, including the development of innovative techniques to monitor ecDNA segregation during cell division.
