About the Speaker

Dustin R. Bunch, PhD DABCC

Co-Director of Laboratory Informatics and Assistant Director Clinical Chemistry, NCH Assistant Professor – Clinical, College of Medicine, The Ohio State University

Dr. Dustin R. Bunch joined Nationwide Children's Hospital in July 2019. He is currently, the Co-Director for Laboratory Informatics and Assistant Director for Clinical Chemistry. In this role, he oversees the laboratory information system and data analytics teams and the biochemical genetics and toxic metals laboratory.

During his tenure, Dr. Bunch has implemented several improvements to the laboratory through informatics and new test development. These improvements include implementation of autoverification in Core Lab and deployment of a containerized application pipeline; redevelopment of all current assays including dried blood spot free & total carnitines, acylcarnitines, amino acid panels, and a steroid hormone panel. His goals are to create a model laboratory informatics service and a strong biochemical genetics core for the treatment of inborn errors of metabolism.
