Committees

Appointments & Promotions Committee

The Appointments and Promotions Committee is a standing committee, advisory to the chair, and appointed to review and assess the academic credentials for initial appointment, reappointment, or promotion to the rank of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor in the University Tenure Line, the University Medical Line, the Research Line, the Teaching Line and Clinician Educator Line.

The committee comprises members of the Professoriate representing faculty lines in both the basic and clinical sciences; all members of the committee are at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.

Clinical Leadership Committee

The Clinical Leadership Committee committee focuses on clinical service and issues that impact the delivery of patient care. This includes operation of the laboratories, functioning of clinical faculty, and reviewing clinical projects for departmental funding.

The committee consists of the Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs, the Medical Directors of Stanford Health Care and Lucille Packard Children's Hospital, and the Directors of Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology.

Research Committee

The Research Committee focuses on research strategy and infrastructure within the department. It also reviews internal grant applications for the various department seed grants and provides recommendations to the chair for issues related to research.  The chair of the Research Committee is selected by the faculty.

Teaching & Training Committee

The Teaching and Training committee focuses on the teaching and training activities within the department. This includes the training of medical students, residents, and clinical fellows.

Committee activities include curriculum development, program expansion, budget guidelines, and review of Department Mentored Trainee Grant applications.

The chair of the committee is the Residency Program Director for Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. 

Committee recommendations are submitted to the Department Chair and Pathology Executive Committee on a regular basis.

Pathology Executive Committee

The Department Chair, Director of Finance and Administration, Medical Directors, Division Chiefs, and the leader of each of the department committees noted above serve on the Pathology Executive Committee.

This committee reviews issues that span all areas activities of the department.
