Undergraduate Student Opportunities
Participating in research as an undergraduate provides you with an ideal opportunity to explore whether a research career is indeed for you, and allows you to obtain the valuable training and experience required for admission to graduate, medical, and veterinary school programs. Undergraduates in the Parker Lab typically pursue Human Biology or Biology majors at Stanford. There are multiple ways to formally participate in our laboratory. These opportunities include: Research internships during the academic year (Course credit, Work/Study, Honors projects) as well as paid summer research fellowships (HB-REX, Bio-X, Amgen). After joining the lab, many of our undergraduate students pursue independent research projects for their honors thesis, secure grants to fund their research and conference travel, and earn authorship on scientific publications and posters. If you are interested in joining the Parker Lab, please send an email message to Dr. Parker and/or Desiree Dupes outlining your research interests and qualifications. Be sure to attach your resume/C.V. highlighting relevant course work and experience. Note that we typically require a minimum of a one year time commitment from each undergraduate student researcher.
