About our Research

Our group focuses on using strong research methods and state of the art neuroimaging tools to investigate the emotional and cognitive factors that influence pain and the neural plastic changes that occur in chronic pain. We use neuropsychology, pharmacology, clinical research, and neuroimaging approaches to investigate normal pain processing, pain disorders, and treatment options.

Our current research studies look at the use of real-time fMRI feedback to improve control over pain, and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) to study how various brain regions impact pain processing. We are also investigating multiple treatments, such as low dose naltrexone (LDN) for complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) and acupuncture for pain relief.
