Nneoma Wamkpah, MD, MSCI has joined our Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as Assistant Professor.

Dr. Wamkpah is an Assistant Professor in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. A Kansas City native, she completed the six-year combined BA/MD program at University of Missouri-Kansas City before moving across the state for Otolaryngology residency at Washington University in St. Louis. She spent two years in the T32 research track at WashU, earning a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation and nurturing a passion for clinical research - specifically in targeted outcomes to understand patient motivations for surgical care. She joins Stanford after finishing a fellowship in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Michigan. For fun, Dr. Wamkpah avidly watches team sports and enjoys traveling with friends.

Laurie Lalakea, MD has been appointed to the rank of Adjunct Professor in the Division of Otology-Neurotology.

In September, Dr. Laurie Lalakea earned the Diplomate in Climate Medicine through the University of Colorado School of Medicine’s Diploma in Climate Medicine program. This program equips clinicians to advocate for climate-smart policies, address environmental justice issues, and lead decarbonization of healthcare systems. The curriculum spans five Certificates: Foundations in Climate Medicine, Sustainable Healthcare, Disaster Resilience and Response, Community Resilience, and Global Challenges. Dr. Lalakea has actively championed climate-smart healthcare by designing educational curricula within Stanford OHNS and the School of Medicine, and with the AAOHNS Environmental Sustainability Task Force, including an upcoming OCC module.
