Stanford OHNS held its 15th Annual Research Day.

This year’s research day was a full day of great panel discussions and an amazing variety of basic, translational and clinical presentations! We were honored to host Dr. Justin Turner from the University of Alabama at Birmingham as our Keynote Speaker! Special thanks to Drs. Michelle Chen and Andrey Finegersh for their remarkable effort in bringing this event to fruition.

Stanford Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery held its Annual Facial Plastic Surgery Course.

The 2024 Stanford Facial Plastic Surgery Course celebrated a legacy of hands-on training that has shaped countless careers and advancements in the facial plastics field. This year, we were honored to welcome Dr. Peter Hilger as our guest of honor, whose career has exemplified dedication to surgical excellence. Special thanks to Drs. Sam Most, JP Pepper, and Seth Davis for their incredible collaboration in making this event a success.


Stanford Rhinology held its  Annual Stanford Rhinology Sinus & Skull Base Surgery Resident Dissection Course.

The Stanford Rhinology Division had a fun day filled with lectures and prosection during their annual Resident Dissection Course. We were honored to have Dr. Amelia K. Read from Sutter Health, Dr. Rijul Kshirsagar from Kaiser Permanente, and Dr. Jee-Hong Kim from John Muir Health join us as invited proctors. Special thanks to the team and vendors for all your hard work and efforts that made this day possible.


Upcoming Stanford/Langmore Foundation FEES Course.

Our Division of Laryngology is thrilled to announce the 2nd Annual Stanford/Langmore FEES Course with hands-on training for licensed adult and pediatric SLPs on January 24-25, 2025.  Led by Dr. Ann Kearney, CScD, CCC-SLP, BCS-S, the two-day course will cover FEES fundamentals, applications, pediatric applications, and the otolaryngologist's role.  In addition, participants will have hands-on experience and one-on-one training in the performance of FEES under the supervision of the Division of Laryngology faculty and several distinguished visiting faculty including Susan Langmore, PhD, CCC-SLP, BCS-S, Patricia Cavanagh, MS, CCC-SLP, BCS-S (VA San Francisco), Edel McNally, MS, CCC-SLP, BCS-S (Boston Medical Center), and Becky Scheel, MS, CCC-SLP, BCS-S ( Beth Israel Medical Center).


Pediatric Otolaryngology Updates.

We are excited to extend an invitation to you for the Pediatric Otolaryngology Updates on February 21-22, 2025, which will provide the most recent clinical advancements in pediatric otolaryngology. Expert faculty will cover various topics through lectures and panels, including hearing screening and treatment for hearing loss; foreign bodies in the ears, nose, and throat; airway disorders; sleep apnea; voice and swallowing disorders; microtia; head and neck masses; epistaxis; tongue tie; and ear molding.⁠

Global Engagement

Our department has engaged in global outreach, supporting clinical, educational, and research initiatives across various countries and continents.


Lisa Orloff, MD delivered a keynote address and additional lectures at the Apollo Cancer Conclave 2024, "Navigating the Changing Cancer Landscape: from Contemporary to Precise," in Mumbai, India occurring from November 9-10, 2024.

The  Apollo Cancer Conclave is the largest multidisciplinary oncology meeting in India, making it the premier, biennial gathering of oncologists, researchers, and experts in the field of cancer care. For the past decade, it has served as a platform for sharing knowledge, experiences, and innovations with presentations by experts from leading institutes worldwide. Dr. Orloff delivered 4 lectures, sat on one panel, and gave the keynote address entitled, "Non-surgical management of thyroid nodules/cancer: Hope or hype?"


Edward Damrose, MD and Christina Ng, MD presented their work at the British Laryngological Association Annual Meeting, “Cutting Edge Laryngology 2024,” in London, England occurring from October 2-4, 2024.

Dr. Edward Damrose and Dr. Christine Ng recently presented their work on the endoscopic treatment of laryngeal stenosis at “Cutting Edge Laryngology 2024.” Cutting Edge Laryngology is the official conference organized by the British Laryngological Association. The conference brings the laryngology community together to advance the cause of those with voice, swallowing, and breathing problems by presenting the latest clinical, scientific, and technological advances in laryngology.


Chris Holsinger, MD was a Visiting Professor at Kansai Medical University in Osaka, Japan in November 2024.

Hosted by former visiting scholar Professor Kensuke Suzuki, Dr. Chris Holsinger presented a lecture on November 11th at the Kansai Medical Center. His presentation, "Robotics, Innovation and AI in Head & Neck Oncology" focused on novel solutions for de-escalating treatment for HPV-mediated oropharyngeal cancer. Dr. Holsinger also met with the Director of Global Engagement and former OHNS Chair, Koichi Tomoda, MD, PhD. Dr. Tomoda is now the President Emeritus of Kansai Medical University.


Konstantina Stankovic, MD, PhD was a keynote speaker at the 8th East Asian Symposium on Otology in Taipei, Taiwan on December 7-8, 2024.

She delivered a lecture on “Precision Otology: The Convergence Approach.” The symposium is organized by the Taiwan Academy of Otology and National Taiwan University Hospital Department of Otolaryngology and features advancements in otolaryngology research in Asia and around the world. She also presented a lecture on “Forging the Unique Path: The Clinician Scientist’s Adventure” at the Cathay General Hospital, sponsored by the Departments of Otolaryngology, Surgery and Education.
