Stanford Rhinology held its Annual Sinus & Skull Base Surgery Resident Dissection Course.

It was a great day of didactics, discussion, and dissection! Thank you to our invited proctors and sponsors! Lastly, we congratulate the directors, Drs Peter Hwang, Jayakar Nayak, Zara Patel, Michael Chang, Axel Renteria, and Zechariah Franks, on the success of this course! ⁠


Stanford OHNS held its 14th Annual Research Day.

We had a full day of great panel discussions and 70 amazing poster presentations! We were honored to host Dr. Umamaheswar Duvvuri, The Mendik Foundation Professor and Chair of the Department of OHNS at NYU Gorssman School of Medicine as our Keynote Speaker!  This year’s poster winners were Julia Abitbol, Anna Shipman, Dawn Bravo, and Julian Azimzadeh. Thank you to all who attended and helped make the day a success!⁠

Stanford Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery held its Facial Plastic Surgery Course.

The course welcomed faculty from around the country and gave students the opportunity to learn basic and advanced concepts of rhinoplasty and nasal reconstruction. We were honored to host  Dr. Brian J.-F. Wong from UC Irvine as our special guest speaker for The Richard L. Goode Lectureship! ⁠We thank the great team of faculty members and administrative staff who participated and helped! Lastly, we congratulate the directors, Drs Sam Most, Jon-Paul Pepper, and Seth Davis, on the success of this course! ⁠


Stanford OHNS was well represented at the AHNS 11th International Conference on Head and Neck Cancer in Montreal and the separate AACR-AHNS meeting. 

We had a great multidisciplinary group of faculty, residents, and students present, and we look forward to attending again next year!

Peter Santa Maria, MBBS, PhD, and Mario Gaspar traveled to Taipei, Taiwan, in July 2023 to attend the annual SPARK GLOBAL update meeting.

Founded at Stanford University in 2006, SPARK has expanded to over 12 countries and 40 institutions around the world. In addition to his role as an Associate Professor in Otolaryngology, Dr. Santa Maria serves as the Director for SPARK GLOBAL and as the Associate Director for SPARK at Stanford. Mario serves as the Executive Administrator for SPARK GLOBAL. ⁠

Approximately eight million children worldwide are living in orphanages. In China, 98% of those kids have a disability. The Moore family of Concord, California, has set a record for having the most kids from one family receiving care at Stanford Children’s Health.
