Food Summit

The Stanford Food Summit convenes leaders who are interested in the latest research on plant-based solutions for health and sustainability

The Stanford Food Summit is an annual conference bringing together Stanford researchers and community partners to collaborate in creating food systems for a more healthful and sustainable world. 

Events feature keynote speakers, expert panelists, networking, information about funding opportunities, and a delicious and beautiful plant-based buffet crafted by Stanford's award-winning chefs. The event has been hosted by Stanford Medicine's Nutrition Research Group and most recently by the Stanford Plant-Based Diet Initiative.

2015 Food Forum

The 2015 Stanford Food Summit united university teams, dining leaders, and students to launch the Menus of Change University Research Collaborative and discuss institutional food challenges and opportunities.

2014 Food Forum

The 2014 Stanford Food Summit featured inspiring speakers, cooking demos, poster sessions, community tables, and a screening of Occupy the Farm, sparking in-depth discussions and showcasing innovative research.

2013 Summit

The 2013 Food Summit spotlighted food system careers with alumni talks, project showcases, discussions, and a screening of A Place at the Table with a panel at Hewlett Hall.

2012 Summit

The 2012 Stanford Food Summit, themed "Healthy Food Systems – Collaboration in Action," featured community and student project showcases, John Robbins’ Food Revolution 2012, and a Farm Bill panel discussion.

2011 Summit

The 2011 Stanford Food Summit featured panels on hospital food, school food with Full Circle Farm, and Stanford as a Living Lab. The evening public forum included Frances Moore Lappé discussing Cultivating the Eco Mind and insights from 40 years in the food movement.

2010 Summit

The inaugural 2010 Stanford Food Summit united experts from all seven Stanford schools to tackle pressing issues like health crises, climate change, and food policy reform.
