Dr Gambhir Honored With Distinguished Scientist Award from WRSNM

Sanjiv Sam Gambhir, MD, PhD was honored with the Distinguished Scientist Award for Distinguished Contributions to Nuclear Medicine at the 37th Annual Western Regional Meeting of the Society of Nuclear Medicine.

Andrew Quon, MD was promoted to Associate Professor.

The abstract "Evaluation of NaF PET/CT, FDG PET/CT, combined NaF/FDG PET/CT and CT alone for detection of bone metastases" (lead investigator: A. Iagaru) presented at the Society of Nuclear Medicine's 2012 Annual Meeting has been featured by several media outlets, including the National Cancer Institute and AuntMinnie.
The paper describes that a combination of dual imaging probes molecular imaging and anatomic imaging detects more cancerous lesions than individual scans.
Dr. Michael Goris, Professor (Emeritus) of Radiology - Nuclear Medicine, retired on July 1, 2012 after 39 years of exceptional service and contributions to Nuclear Medicine and Stanford University. We wish him a long and happy retirement.
