The Milan Gambhir Professor of Pediatric Neuro-Oncology has received the 2025 Brain Prize, established by the Lundbeck Foundation. Monje, along with German neuroscientist Frank Winkler, were honored for their transformative research, showing that nervous system activity can promote cancer initiation, growth, spread and treatment resistance. These discoveries have laid the foundations for an entirely new field of research called cancer neuroscience that represents a paradigm shift in the understanding of these cancers, offering vital new opportunities for treatment. The prize includes a $1.4 award, which will be split between Monje and Winkler.
