Stanford Center for Asian Health Research and Education

The Stanford Center for Asian Health Research and Education (CARE) has received a $5 million gift to launch a new program: ADVANCE (Accelerate Innovation in Diabetes Leveraging Unique Pathways in Asians). As the largest gift in CARE’s history, the funding will support pioneering research to address diabetes disparities in Asian populations, including the creation of an Asian diabetes biobank and collaborative studies on unique genetic and molecular mechanisms. ADVANCE will be led by Latha Palaniappan, MD, a professor of cardiovascular medicine and co-founder of CARE, and will bring together Stanford’s top researchers in fields such as endocrinology, cardiology and genetics to drive scientific discoveries and transform health outcomes locally and globally.
