Happy Match Day!

By Michelle Brandt

Each year, during Match Day, medical students across the country find out where they'll be doing their residencies.

It's one of my favorite days of the academic year: Match Day, when medical students across the country find out where they'll be headed to do their residencies. (Residency assignments are determined each year by the non-profit National Resident Matching Program; this year we have 70 students "matching.")

As in years past, our group of excited/anxious/hopeful students will gather at the Li Ka Shing Center for Learning and Knowledge on campus and receive envelopes that hold the key to their immediate futures. Those envelopes will be ripped open at 9 a.m. Pacific time and from there: hugs, squeals and tears (of happiness, usually).

We'll have a story here on Monday; in the meantime check in on Instagram for photos from the celebratory event. And if you have a Stanford photo to share, please use the hashtag #StanfordMedicine.

Good luck, students!
