Speakers include Nobel laureate Roger Kornberg
Commencement for the School of Medicine's Class of 2008 will be held June 14, 100 years since Stanford University signed an agreement in 1908 to acquire its first medical school program.
The ceremony will start at 2 p.m. on the Dean's Lawn with an invocation by Rev. William 'Scotty' McLennan, dean of religious life, followed by Philip Pizzo, MD, dean of the medical school.
The student speakers are Graham Walker, author of the blog 'Over my med body!' and MD candidate, and Gilbert Martinez, PhD candidate.
An address will be given by Nobel laureate Roger Kornberg, PhD, professor of structural biology and the Mrs. George A. Winzer Professor in Medicine.
Winners of awards for contributions to graduate and medical education, patient care and teaching will also be honored. The event will end with the awarding of diplomas, followed by a champagne reception. The event will be Webcast at http://med.stanford.edu/commencement.
