NEUROSURGERY RESIDENCY PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Stanford University Neurosurgery Residency Program offers a rigorous, comprehensive curriculum to develop the overachieving skills in the operative, clinical and academic setting. The program provides each resident with progressive surgical and patient management responsibility commensurate with his/her level of experience and core competencies. We are committed to instilling a humanistic approach to patient care, academic and research pursuits, and acquiring a broad and deep knowledge of medicine and neurosurgery. We aim to train the future leaders in Neurosurgery.

Stanford’s Neurosurgery Training Program benefits from the teaching of 35 full-time clinical and 21 research faculty members, and is supported with over 30  full-time Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Nurse Coordinators. Over 4000 neurosurgical operations covering the full spectrum of neurosurgical conditions are performed annually.

Outside the close-knit residency program, our residents and their families enjoy the beautiful and cosmopolitan area offering the best of everything – beautiful beaches, mountain hiking, snow ski resorts, urban adventures, and rich cultural experiences and amenities all in close proximity to Stanford.
