Neurodiversity Transition Orientation 2020

By using an all-virtual format, we are able to continue to offer the Neurodiversity Transition Orientation this fall, subject to University decisions and ongoing public health guidance.

Incoming Students

First-year and new transfers students will be welcomed to campus in the fall, subject to ongoing public health and safety guidance.

Because the academic calendar has been re-set to begin Autumn Quarter one week earlier on September 14, NSO administrators are currently in the process of finalizing dates. We are working closely with University Officials to adapt our programming and the dates of our virtual Neurodiversity Transition Orientation as circumstances require and will post on our web site as we are able to determine programming.

Virtual Format

By participating in the Neurodiversity Transition Orientation, students will gain knowledge and receive information on topics including campus resources, residential life and independent living skills, transportation, community resources, social support, and an introduction to neurodiversity.

Content will be delivered through a mix of video content and live discussion specifically designed to introduce neurodiverse students to Stanford and campus life. In addition to the Stanford Neurodiversity Project staff, peer mentors will be on hand to support students and share experiences during the virtual program.

All of the video content will be available on our website for any Stanford student to access. We will open registration for the live portion of Neurodiversity Transition Orientation as we receive updates on programming for NSO.

Peer Mentor Program 2020/21

We welcome first year and transfer students, as well as returning neurodiverse sophomores, juniors and seniors. During remote learning that is occurring as a result of COVID-19, all mentoring programming is virtual. During this time, we will work with students to communicate in a preferred manner, as possible.

Accessing Materials & Registration

All of the pre-recorded content will be available on our website for any Stanford student to access. We will open registration for the live portion of the virtual Neurodiversity Transition Orientation and the Peer Mentor Program as we receive updates on programming for NSO.
