The Muslim Mental Health Training for community members will cover the following modules: Introduction to Mental Health, Islamic Heritage of Mental Health, Identifying Common Mental Health Themes and Conditions, Facilitating Open Conversation on Mental Health in the Community, and Resources, Self-Help, Crisis Response. The training aims to provide participants with a basic understanding of mental health, common mental health conditions and their impact, historical and contemporary Islamic perspectives on mental health and well-being, common mental health themes and conditions in Muslim communities, skills and knowledge to initiate and facilitate open conversations on mental health in the community, and information on available resources for those experiencing mental health challenges.
Learning Objectives
Community members who take this training will be able to:
Understand the basic concepts of mental health and common mental health conditions in Muslim communities.
Appreciate the historical and contemporary Islamic perspectives on mental health and the role of faith in promoting mental health.
Identify common mental health themes and conditions and their impact on individuals and the community.
Learn how to initiate and facilitate open conversations on mental health in their community.
Identify resources available for mental health support, including self-help strategies, crisis response, and professional support.
Apply their learnings to case studies for practical application of knowledge.
