Welcome, Dr. Mari Aparici

Carina Mari Aparici, MD
Clinical Professor, Radiology

December 11, 2019

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Carina Mari Aparici, Clinical Professor in Radiology, has been elected as a MIPS faculty member.

Dr. Aparici is part of the Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging Division, with a clinical focus in Nuclear Medicine. She received her medical degree from Universidad de Valencia Faculty of Medicine in Spain, and continued with her postdoctoral residencey and training at Stanford in 2000-2005. Next Dr. Aparici moved to UCSF where was a Clincial Professor in the Department of Radiology. She came back to Stanford in 2018, when she was recruited to the Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging Division to head up the theranostics program.

Her research interests involve the field of theranostics, with a focus on the development and clinical translation of diagnostic and therapeutic paired molecular-probes that allow for specific internal radio-treatments at the cellular level. She has over 20 years’ experience in both clinical care and research, and has published over 120 papers in her field. The MIPS program will benefit greatly by strengthening our link with Nuclear Medicine, and by bringing Dr. Aprici’s expertise in theranostics to our program we expect many new collabrations between molecular probes and clinical/theranostic translations.

Welcome on board Dr. Aparici!
