Emma Cruz is a sophomore planning to study Mathematics and Computer Science at Stanford. She is especially interested in applying CS and engineering to medicine.

She is currently studying gold nanoparticles for surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) through FDTD simulations as well as synthesis. Her project is focused on biodegradable suprastructures made of cross-linked nanoparticles, with the ultimate goal of developing a novel method for noninvasive in vivo tumor imaging.
