Child and Adolescent Thyroid Consortium (CATC)

Patients having thyroid surgery are eligible to donate their information and tissue to research to help us understand more about thyroid problems in children and adolescents.

Microplastics in Tonsil tissue 

We are studying whether certain “forever chemicals” such as nanoplastics and microplastics might be found in the tonsils of children. We also seek to understand if those chemicals might pose any health risk to the immune system or the endocrine system.

Machine learning to predict the pathology of thyroid nodules

Dr. Meister collaborating with Dr. Ha from Ajou University to compare the diagnostic performance of radiologists’ diagnosis, and a DL algorithm in differentiating benign and malignant thyroid nodules on ultrasonography.

Sustainable Surgery 

US Healthcare is a major contributor to environmental pollution. In this project, we aim to decrease the carbon footprint of the operating room through decreasing consumables, increasing recycling, and leveraging standardization of processes to mitigate waste.
