Speaker
Dr. Ashley Cetnar, Ph.D., Department of Radiation Oncology at Ohio State University
Ashley Cetnar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at The Ohio State University. She is trained as both a clinical medical physicist earning her MS in medical physics from Vanderbilt University and expert in teaching and learning earning a PhD in Education: Teaching and Learning specializing in STEM education. Within the clinic, she strives to provide excellent patient care in her role as a medical physicist by solving problems, applying science and technology, upholding quality and safety, and promoting innovation for new ways of treating patients. As an educator, she is passionate about helping others learn and grow as both individuals and within a team. She is chair of the SDAMPP Subcommittee for Medical Physics Research working on concept inventory development.
Abstract
Education research is critical for the development and implementation of best practices in our graduate and residency programs, and there is a need to support growth in education research for the medical physics field. Concept inventories are educational tools that have been well established in the physics education field. We have developed a concept inventory for radiologic physics and dosimetry topics, and we aim to validate the tool with medical physics graduate students and instructors. The goal of this presentation is to introduce medical physics educators to concept inventories as a tool for assessing teaching methods.
