Other Inherited Metabolic Disease

Stanford has particular research and treatment focus in a number of inherited metabolic diseases (ALD, lysososmal storage disease, mitochondrial disease) and we have expertise in treating and managing all inherited metabolic diseases- from the midlest and most common, to the most severe and rarest.  Inherited metabolic diseases fall into a few main categories, depending on the particular processes in the body they affect. 

Categories include, but are not limited to, disorders of: 

  • Amino acid and peptide metabolism 
  • Carbohydrate metabolism 
  • Fatty acid and ketone body metabolism
  • Energy metabolism
  • Lysosomal metabolism
  • Peroxisomal metabolism

It is not necessary to know the exact category you or your child's disease (or potential disease) falls into. We evaluate any and all inherited metabolic diseases.
