Student Budget (Cost of Education)
The following standard expenses are included in the student' budget and adjusted to reflect year in school and housing plans.
- Tuition
- Basic Living Expenses (food, personal)
- Housing
- Books & Supplies
- Medical Instruments
- Transportation
- Campus Health Service Fee
- Medical Insurance
- Disability Insurance
- United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1 & 2 Registration Fee
Other Allowable Expenses
Additions to the basic student budget may be considered but must be reviewed with the Financial Aid Office. Original invoices, receipts or other proof of payment are required. Budget adjustments are made quarterly and/or yearly; institutional (SU) loan funds are offered to offset. Expenses may include:
- Child-Care
- Dependent Care Allowance
- Computer & Electronics (up to $3,000 upon request)
- Uninsured Medical, Dental, Mental Health, and Optical Expenses
- Automobile Repairs (clinical students who must travel)
- Residency Interview Expenses (up to $3,000 upon request)
Non-allowable Expenses
Examples of expenses we cannot consider:
- Relocation & Residency Expenses
- Consumer Credit
- Automobile Purchase
