How has being part of the MCiM cohort challenged or inspired you in ways you didn’t expect?

Being surrounded by such a diverse and talented group of individuals has been instrumental in my personal and professional growth. Coming from a frontline nursing background without prior experience in business or tech, I initially felt a bit intimidated. But the collaborative nature of the MCiM cohort changed that. My classmates have played a major role in helping me better understand those areas, and I’ve learned so much just by being in conversation with people who think differently than I do. What’s inspired me the most is realizing that my clinical perspective is just as valuable—our differences have made us stronger as a group. MCiM has shown me that growth really begins when you step outside your comfort zone.

How has MCiM shaped your perspective on the evolving role of nursing in clinical informatics, and what impact do you hope to make?

MCiM has opened my eyes to the limitless possibilities nurses have in the world of clinical informatics. I now see how our role can go far beyond the bedside—we can help redesign systems that truly support the work we do and improve the care patients receive. I hope to be part of creating tools or solutions that improve workflow for clinicians, reduce burnout, and allow us to focus more on what really matters: patient care. At the end of the day, patients are often going through some of the most vulnerable times in their lives, and they deserve a seamless, compassionate, and efficient experience. I want to make an impact that not only improves outcomes but restores human connection in healthcare.

What advice would you give to fellow nurses who want to bridge the gap between healthcare, business, and technology but may not have prior experience in those areas?

It’s absolutely possible—even if it feels unfamiliar at first. As frontline nurses, we have an incredible advantage: we know what’s not working, and we live it every day. That insight is powerful. Don’t underestimate the value of your experience just because it’s not in business or tech. You belong in the room where these decisions are being made. MCiM gives you the foundation, the language, and the network to grow into those spaces. It’s not about knowing it all—it’s about being willing to learn and lead with purpose.

Looking back, what were your biggest reservations before joining MCiM, and what ultimately convinced you to take the leap?

I’ll be honest—coming from a purely clinical background, the idea of diving into business and tech felt intimidating. I had no clue where to even begin, and I worried I might be out of place. But deep down, I knew that if I wanted to be part of shaping the future of healthcare, I couldn’t stay in my comfort zone. What ultimately convinced me was the vision I had for myself: to grow, to lead, and to make a bigger impact. I didn’t have to be an expert—I just had to be willing to learn. Taking that leap was one of the best decisions I’ve made.
