He/Him
You recently started exploring entrepreneurship, can you explain what the process was like and how you were able to juggle that as well as classes?
After exploring various entrepreneurship classes, my physician classmate and I decided to put our heads together to see if creating a healthcare venture studio was feasible. We are both very passionate about the process of building 0-1 products. This endeavor ended up being both our practicum and an independent study under the guidance of our professor who has vast experience in Entrepreneurship and Formation of New Ventures. To balance these commitments, I had to carefully manage my time and prioritize my tasks. Tools such as Calendly and Trello were incredibly helpful. I ensured that I allocated specific time slots for my job, attending classes, and working on the venture studio project. Additionally, effective communication and collaboration with my classmate was essential. We met regularly to discuss our project, divide tasks, and ensure progress.
MCiM offers students the opportunity to take electives in addition to your program courses, how did you go about selecting which courses to take and how have they enhanced your experience as a student?
When it came to selecting which electives to take, I followed a few guiding principles to make choices that would enrich my experience as a student. I looked for electives that would equip me with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in my current management role. Balancing core courses with electives can be challenging, so I tried to choose electives that I could manage alongside my core coursework. I also sought advice from alumni, as learning about the experiences of those who have previously taken the courses can provide invaluable insights.
MCiM is a unique intersection between data, healthcare, and business. How has it improved your career? Has it changed the direction of your career path?
Certainly! MCiM, with its distinct combination of data, healthcare, and business, has had a transformative effect on my career. The business courses of MCiM have honed my strategic and managerial skills. Understanding the business side is critical in healthcare as it drives innovation and sustainability. They have helped me grasp the financial and operational aspects, which are key to executing successful projects in the healthcare domain.
