Bio

Dr. Smith is currently the Vice President and Chief Medical Officer in Prudential’s Health and Benefits Center of Expertise. She has been in her role since June 2019, and works out of the company’s Newark, NJ headquarters.  In her role Dr. Smith provides guidance on all clinical programs, supports programs that support the overall health and well-being of Prudential employees, and provides consultative support to the internal businesses. Dr. Smith serves as the clinical consultant to the Benefits strategy team, and advises on global health and safety for non-US employees.

Dr. Smith practiced Internal Medicine for over 20 years in diverse roles. She has held leadership positions in medical practices prior to coming to Prudential and continues clinical practice in a hospitalist role.  She also represents Prudential on the National Committee for Quality Assurance.  

Dr. Smith holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Howard University College of Medicine, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Columbia Business School.  She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Lifestyle Medicine, and is a Certified Medical Review Officer.  Dr. Smith has several professional affiliations and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Smith is active in the community and is a member of several organizations. She is a member of the North Manhattan Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and is a working member on several sub-committees.  Dr. Smith is active in the alumni associations of Binghamton University and Columbia Business School, where she is a co-chair of the Hermes Society and the Student Relief Fund and a founding member of the Columbia Women’s Circle. She is also a member of her local chapter of the National Council of Negro Women.
