Bio
Dr. Genen is an experienced physician executive who has spent her career focused on improving the lives of women and children.
In her current role as Chief Medical Officer at ProgenyHealth, she oversees the clinical operation and is responsible for the advancement of products supporting women and children. She provides leadership in areas of Claims & Clinical Operations, Policy Development, Quality Management, Information Technology & Infrastructure, Clinical Configuration, Data Analytics, and Client Implementations. She serves as a Board Member for Hera Women’s Health and consults on various healthcare enterprises. She has facilitated initiatives to help prevent maternal and infant mortality and address racial disparities in healthcare. She is passionately interested in technology and machine learning applications that will help ensure timely care and improve outcomes. In addition to her full-time role, she is a Distinguished Mentor at Stanford Medical School in the Master of Science in Clinical Informatics Management (MCiM) program.
Her most recent role was as a Senior Research Fellow for United Health Group Research and Development helping to advance innovations in healthcare. Prior to moving over to R&D, she was the Chief Medical Officer for Women’s Health at Optum servicing Fertility, Maternity and Neonatal programs. She has shaped the operations of these programs directing teams, developing reporting, advising analytics and supporting sales. She is known for her innovative approach in designing population health programs for both Commercial and Medicaid markets and received the Innovation Award in 2020 from UnitedHealth Group. Previous roles involved National Medical Director at ParadigmHealth and Alere before joining Optum.
